Legacy Protection Law Firm

We help people protect their legacy through legal planning for their property, business and family.

We became lawyers because we believe in the necessity of law, justice and human rights. For us, the law is a means for organizing our society and ensuring individual freedom. That’s why our Firm focuses on three areas of law that we believe represent the most ingenious inventions of human individuality: estate planning, business and intellectual property.

Estate planning is more than just a compilation of forms. It is a way for us to honor life, care for the sick or disabled, and to protect our clients’ wishes after death.  We recommend estate planning to anyone seeking peace of mind and control over an uncertain future. We strive to provide the utmost care and loyalty to our community by helping others protect their family and property in the event of death or incapacitation.  While we cannot predict the future, we analyze the unique family structure and assets of each client to make sure they are protected no matter what they face in the future.

We view small business as the heart of our economy.  The ability to create a separate legal entity helps to free entrepreneurs and go-getters from personal liability and provides a mechanism for handling tax liability.  We work with each individual to determine the ideal corporation or partnership for their desired purpose and help work through the process of formation to get everything off the ground today and strategize for a successful tomorrow.  No two businesses are the same and we customize each entity based on current law and trade standards to meet the unique needs of each owner/entrepreneurs.

Our society is built on art and science.  As legal professionals, we work with creative minds to protect their works and ideas from copycats, posers, infringers and frauds by filing for federal intellectual property protection.  This protection, whether it be through a trademark, copyright, or patent, allows artists, scientists and entrepreneurs to focus on creativity rather than worrying about theft.

We are more than a law firm, we are legacy protectors.

What Happens to My Estate Plan if I Get a Divorce?

When life changes, it is important to remember to get your estate planning documents updated. A divorce is no exception to this rule. The marital settlement agreement, which is required to finalize a divorce in California, will generally void most joint living trusts and wills between spouses.

What Happens if I Die Without a Will?

A will is a document that gives legal power to your wishes and desires after you pass.  It allows you the power to reach from beyond the grave and bind your heirs to uphold your decisions and wishes as clearly laid out on paper.

What is a Durable Power of Attorney?

A Power of Attorney is a legal document where you (the “principle”), give another person (the “agent” or “attorney-in-fact”) the legal authority to act on your behalf.

What is an Advanced Medical Directive?

Unexpected situations can arise at any time. Therefore, it’s important for all adults to have protections in place, not just the elderly. An Advance Medical Directive allows you to give instructions for your doctor or caregiver if you fall into a coma or become terminally ill, seriously injured, or mentally incapacitated.

How Long Does It Take to Get a Divorce in California?

While Californians are used to cooling off at the beach, they must also abide by the 6-month “cooling off” period before getting divorced. This date begins from the day the Respondent is served with the initial divorce petition documents or from when they first respond in court, whichever is first.

You have the creative ideas, we have the business experience to get your start-up going.  The process of starting a company may seem overwhelming, but it can also be rewarding.  The number of permits and licenses required to “open your doors” varies by industry and failure to obtain them can result in fines, sanctions, or forced closure.

Don’t gamble your future by taking risks today. We offer flat-rate business start-up packages for new Partnerships, LLCs and Corporations. We’ll handle the paperwork and meet all state and local legal requirements.  Let us manage the process, leaving you free to focus on building your business.

Copyright laws let creators control their original works. Any creation that is fixed in a recording medium — whether paper, compact disc, film or digital — is subject to copyright.

By assigning exclusive rights to copyright holders, the law ensures that only the originators (and those who receive permission) can copy, perform or otherwise change the works. This protection encourages artists of all disciplines to create original works that enrich life for the general public.

Protecting your original work not only enhances your earning potential, but also provides a benefit to the public.

Competition in business is fierce. Failure to register trademarks creates opportunities for competition and can stifle expansion. This puts your business, and any product or service development you are undertaking, at an immediate and unnecessary risk.

Securing a registered trademark protects your brand and provides the tools to shield against others seeking to benefit from your brand development.  As your product or service becomes successful, the trademark itself starts to develop an intrinsic value. The time to protect assets is now; before they become liabilities.
