10 Crazy SoCal Laws You’ve Probably Never Heard Of

There are many outdated laws all across the U.S. that seem downright weird in modern times. Southern California itself has a few crazy and outdated laws that may leave you scratching your head.  Check out the 10 crazy laws below to see if you or your friends and family have unwittingly broken the law!

1.  Film producers must have permission from a pediatrician before filming a child under the age of one month[1]

2.  It’s unlawful to let a dog pursue a bear or bobcat at any time.[2]

3.  In Glendale, one may not take his dog onto an elevator with him.[3]

4.  Watch-out aspiring spidermen, because in Glendale, it is illegal to jump into a passing car.[4]

5.  Mind your britches in Hermosa Beach, where no person may show his or her buttocks on a playground.[5]

6.  In Los Angeles, all food served in a children’s camp must be approved by the director before serving.[6]

7.  It is also illegal to set metal balloons afloat in the air in Los Angeles County.[7]

8.  You may have to change your weekend plans, because it’s illegal to skateboard or roller-skate through the library and courthouse in LA.[8]

9.  If your business is failing in Thousand Oaks, you may need to obtain a permit; before a business may hold a “going out of business sale”, they must first obtain a special permit from the city manager.[9]

10.  Sick of seeing pet waste?  Then maybe Cerritos is the city for you, where all dog “waste” must be removed from any yard within seven days.[10]
